West End Patisserie is the heart of something truly special – a place where love for community, creativity, and cake come together in the most delicious way.

Founded by Melissa Coutts, a long-time Darlington local with over 20 years’ experience in the recruitment industry, West End Patisserie is a return to her first love: hospitality. Mel’s deep-rooted passion for the town and its people is at the centre of everything we do – from our warm, welcoming space to the way we serve every coffee and pastry with care.

Mel is joined by Sam Barras, our co-founder and resident pastry chef extraordinaire. A self-taught talent with a flair for flavour and finesse, Sam creates cakes and bakes that are nothing short of heavenly. Words can’t quite do her creations justice – you’ll just have to come and try them for yourself.

Together, we’re building more than just a patisserie. We’re creating a little haven in the heart of Darlington – a place to pause, indulge, and feel right at home. Whether you’re popping in for a perfectly brewed coffee, a decadent slice of cake, or just a moment of calm, we can’t wait to welcome you.
